The more spiritual entrepreneurs I connect with the more I realize a few things:
#1) Money isn’t enough of a driving factor to motivate your business. It seems we need something more, the emotions we are striving for with money is closer to freedom, security, expansion.
#2) What is even more important than money is flowing through your day. Enjoying your day, enjoying the journey as they say – being present and having a balance of business work and other areas is even more important than income from your business.
What I find is that as we focus on enjoying the journey, being present and finding the right structure for our business the money will naturally flow to us. So approaching things from a place where joy and following your intuition is #1 is a natural starting place. From there the money will flow. The clarity will flow and the rest of your life won’t get totally ignored!
So what does my spirit-led business look like?
Let me start by saying this is in NO WAY what my business started out as. My business started out as overworked, way too many hours, zero self-care and pandemonium in my home life. But I chose to start a business and from my perspective, I was taking the right steps. Which is fabulous, had I not gone through it I would not have the wisdom to share with you what I’ve learned. Take a quick look at the progression that I took to get here:
STEP 1 > Overworked totally working every spare second and letting emotional stress pile up until it spilled out in depression, overwhelm and well-hidden meltdowns. Solution: Recognized not an invincible do it all machine. Made peace with being ok as a human. Started to eat regularly again. The beginning of my self-acceptance and return of my personal power and self-worth.
STEP 2 > Working a hell of a lot, but taking time to care for myself. Still feeling off. But finances growing steadily so keep driving ahead. Forgetting about self-care 50% of the time and still going back to the pattern of overwork. Solution: Recognized something had to shift with my business. Realized I was missing the spiritual aspect, and it was calling me STRONGLY.
STEP 3 > Rearranged work so I am working WAY less. Increased spirt time (diving into subjects that pulled at me, meditating, working with a spiritual coach, reconnecting with intuition and learning energy healing modalities) and yet my income didn’t drop. It stayed the same as when I was working a hell of a lot. Solution, or wait sabotage: Oh what’s that money is coming easy? Time to sabotage myself. This is when my money mindset became front and center as I started to sabotage myself when things were going too good – since I felt I didn’t deserve it. I started working towards it being ok to not work hard for money (still something I remind myself of regularly)
STEP 4 > Started to offer spiritual services and had 2 businesses running. My original online business management company and spiritual coaching/ energy healing. Again was working too much and now I required even more down time and self care. Unclear about how to properly combine the 2 businesses but felt like I had to. A good 2 years listening to all the coaches and guru’s so obviously not getting any more clear in business because was listening to what I ‘should’ do and what was logical. Solution: Found a coach who helped me rely on my own intuition more deeply, FINALLY leading to business clarity. Still working our 1001 doubts and fears.
STEP 5 > Got my groove back! Got my power on and recognized purpose properly for first time without cloud of doubts. Let go of 90% of my clients and totally let go of first business to create a business model that was structured around my gifts and skills and how I could really help others. SCRARY A.F. but enough doubts out of the way that Universe was ready to jump into action by filling me up with clients with 2 weeks of letting go of the first business totally. Solution: Started to run my business as spirit-led. Integrating intuition, strategy, and structure beautifully now. Actually feeling balanced in life with my husband and 3 kids and business etc. Wondering why I didn’t do this in the first place – then remembering that without that struggle there would be no way I could guide others to find their business truth. Flowing even through tough energy shifts with increasing personal power, and vibrating at a higher level with more mindfulness and joy.
Generally speaking, my day starts pretty early between 5-6am. Not because the guru’s told me to. Because it feels best to ME. I don’t and can’t really work past 4 or 5pm because I’m not at my prime. Because at that time I’m in family or relaxation mode, or drink a glass of champagne and declutter mode.
My morning routines are not strict because I get far too bored with that. Instead, they include elements:
- Coffee and like 4 glasses of water (usually 1 with ACV and the rest with cucumber)
- Quiet time/ journal random or whatever
- Intuitive checkin to see what the priority is today. I do this with my Akashic Records and other guides and also clear my resistance daily.
- Strategic checkin to see what structure is a priority today (meetings, deadlines, things I’m accountable for etc.)
- Epsom Salt footbath or shower or bath. Something grounding with water
I then get the kids off to school and start my day. Sometimes that includes working solid only stopping to eat quickly. Sometimes it includes a day trip to a pond, popcorn, and a movie. Sometimes a nap and meditation. Sometimes creating and recording content in such a flow that all of a sudden the kids are home and I’ve not even noticed the day go by. The important thing about my days, and I am becoming increasingly good at this, is that I TRUST what my own intuition is telling me on a daily basis. I follow most of the guidance, and what I don’t follow tends to come back around to encourage me over and over until I do (these are usually things outside of my comfort zone or self care I’m not implementing).
That is it. I have a business strategy based upon what feels best to me and what supports my soul mate clients, I have milestones to hit. But on a day to day basis it is all about flow, and on the days I don’t flow – I forgive myself because the following morning is another opportunity to flow.
