SEO is simply search engine optimization or getting found when people type stuff in. It applies to your website, but it also applies to your social media channels, so it is worth looking into to make sure that you are reaching those that will most resonate with your services or products. SEO can be overwhelming, so let’s start with 3 quick tips to get you going.
SEO TIP 1
Do your research! Or, you know you could also grab some VA hours to delegate the research 😉 You will want to use a keyword planner, such as the Adwords Planner. You will need a free adwords account to use this, but it only takes a few minutes to set up. You will also want to write up a list of keywords (keywords are single words or phrases) you want to be found for. Be creative and think about what you feel like your tribe would be typing in. Once you are on the planner type in your first word or phrase you want to be found for and look for the ones that are closest to what you wrote that have a high monthly search volume and low competition. By choosing high volume, low competition you are more likely to be found. Start with a list of around 5 – 20 words or phrases.
SEO TIP 2
Optimize your images and videos, never again should an image or video on your site be called 7jbvvfyuy9.jpg give it a relevant name that includes your keywords. Also remember to give them a alt description. You’ll notice when you upload images to your WordPress site that it gives you the option to write in the names. So not only do you get found by Google for actual words on your site, but images are also a great way to get even more pull. This tip also applies to YouTube to help you be found there.
SEO TIP 3
Make sure to share your site, and create content consistently. Google loves sites that consistently put out content that relates to their keywords, and it also rewards sites that have a lot of links from social media. So make sure that you are sharing your content often on social media and providing great value to your tribe while helping them to find you easier.
