With over 100 million active Pinterest users, plus so many pretty pins – it is a visual way to connect with amazing new community members in a way that feels great. Check out my 3 quick tips on using Pinterest for business below, and follow me on Pinterest here.
1. BASICS
When you upload or pin your own pins (images you create or images from your website) be sure that they are linking back to your website, to the correct page you want them to land on. You can do this by hovering over your pin in your board and clicking on the pencil icon. Where it has a space for ‘website’ add it there as well as in the description.
Another basic is to be sure that your community can easily pin from your website, make sure to enable Pin It buttons for your website and remember to pin all your content to get the ball rolling yourself!
2. USE YOUR WORDS
There are 2 main places you will want to pay attention to, when it comes to your words:
#1 Name your images something descriptive that includes words that your community uses and will be searching for. So instead of an image being called “88665t55jhmyuu8.jpg” I would call it “spiritual marketing for lightworkers.jpg”
#2 Use that description area! Add a few words to your description that also describe what you are pinning. Again this is taking advantage of the search feature or SEO (search engine optimization) to help your community find you. You can also be conscious of the description of your boards as well.
At the same time as you are using your words, check in with your energy. As you write and invest time in marketing, how do you feel? Check in with your body. Are you coming from a place of love, gratitude and joy to be sharing your message and uplifting others? Or are you coming from a place of lack, a place of ‘I have to do this to get clients’ . Determine where you are out WITHOUT judgement. If you are coming from a place of lack, step back – take a break, be gentle with yourself and when you are ready re-focus on what you love about your clients and business and pour that energy out into all that you do.
3. BE YOURSELF
Just because you sell crystals doesn’t mean that is the only thing you are into, it also doesn’t mean it’s the only thing you can pin! Create all kinds of boards, from the food that you love, to what inspires you, to books you want to read – or anything that interests you. Remember that your community, as in those that are to be attracted to and uplifted by your energy will resonate with you. The more you show of yourself, the more there is to love! Don’t feel like you have to keep it to all business related here – I have had many comments that people love my Pinterest because it is so ‘eclectic’ – just me being me!
A few more ideas for pins and boards:
- Any videos that you do, can be pined and linked to the YouTube, Vimeo or similar page.
- Create tip images and add them – do you always tend to give out similar tips? Add those to an image, stick on your picture, website or logo and pin away!
- You are only limited by your imagination here – so consider how you can creatively and visually share your business and showcase yourself.
