Without focus Twitter for business can be a time consuming activity, and feel low vibe and like something you should do.
Please note that if you don’t feel pulled to be on Twitter for business, don’t force yourself. It is more important that you feel good about where you are expressing yourself online. Know that it takes time to grow a community, but consistency and focused action will get you results – just like in anything.
Twitter Productivity Daily List
{While this is a daily list- I encourage you to take days where you ‘un-plug’ and don’t worry about your Twitter account. Unless you use it for customer service, in this case simply checking your @ mentions is a good idea for your ‘days off’.}
- Share Something (x3) – (You may want to schedule these in advance with one of the many tools out there such as Hootsuite, Post Planner or Buffer)
- Retweet Someone You Follow
- Engage With At least 2 People
- Check your new followers and follow back those who interest you (this can also happen once weekly instead)
- Check your @Mentions and respond
BONUS TIP: Sort your followers into lists on Twitter. It is much more manageable to engage with others on specific topics that interest you when they are already sorted into lists. For example you might have a list where you add people that share self care tips or how to manage your time. You can then easily go into each list and find some great stuff to RT or engage with people on.
Twitter Productivity Weekly List
- Unfollow inactive accounts or users that don’t follow you back after a few weeks (if you are not interested in their tweets)
- Follow new and interesting users. I generally follow about 50, but follow however many you are comfortable with.
- Schedule your sharing posts for the week. If you don’t have time to share a lot of articles throughout the week, you will know that this task is taken care of.
Get More Followers
- Staying consistent on Twitter is one way to ensure you get quality followers. Share great content, follow interesting people and engage with others. Also very important: don’t spam people please 🙂
- For a quick way to make new connections and followers join a Twitter chat. {A Twitter chat is when a group of people follow and use a specific # to discuss topics at a scheduled time} I love these and they are just so much fun!
